I was born in South Africa and earned my BFA Degree from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. I worked as a graphic designer and later turned to fine art experimenting with different mediums like oil pastels on paper, deconstructive printing on paper/acrylic collage and fiber & textile.

Currently I am working in cold wax, oil paint, pigments and ink that allows me to develop the complexity of the surface and color interactions and exploring mixed media.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My work explores the connectedness between the imperfection and impermanence of nature and life.  Inspiration for my work comes from the diverse environment around me and how it connects to self and place. I create my work in an unplanned and spontaneous way and let the process take over.  The organic shapes of construction, deterioration and reconstruction of the elements in nature allow me to express my ideas through color, texture and expressive mark-making building my paintings through alternating layers of “chaos” with layers of “order”.
